Shared Leadership Master Class

Complex issues, shifting circumstances, a complex stakeholder field and continuous change play a role in almost every organization. These challenges cannot be met solely through decisiveness, strict processes and clear policy. It is time for leadership in which you solve issues together and further the development of the organization. We call that 'shared leadership'. The essence of shared leadership is that you work together on the basis of equality, not equality, with everyone taking his or her role. Part of this may involve dividing management tasks within the team, something that can be discussed during your case discussions.

Dialogue is an important factor in creating shared leadership. In this masterclass you will learn how to strengthen dialogue through Dialogical Leadership. In yourself and with others. So that the organization, and you as a leader, can act effectively, ethically and authentically.

Participants are looking for scientific insights and practical added value.

Admission requirements

One of the major challenges facing organizations is achieving dialog within the hierarchy. To create the right learning environment for this in the master class, we strive for a diverse group of participants, who bring different perspectives to the table. Our admission requirements therefore look at the combination of backgrounds in the participant group. This way we can guarantee the highest quality education for you.

We expect:

  • Participants working in changing environments that pose complex issues.
  • Experience in leadership from a hierarchal position or roles such as program manager or content leader.
  • Experience in change management, such as the Change Management Master Class.

Dialogical Leadership for flexible and versatile action

Your work involves volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous issues (VUCA issues) – whether they concern clients, innovation or organizational development. In this complexity, the key is to ensure that the organization’s mission (‘the forest’) shines through in its day-to-day practice (‘the trees’). Dialog helps you tackle these issues, for example by shaping shared leadership. This distributes ownership more broadly. The Shared Leadership Master Class offers a convenient theoretical framework, tools and forms of dialog.

How will the Shared Leadership Master Class benefit you?

  • You know how to strengthen dialog in yourself and in your team.
  • You’re able to take on different perspectives, to stay in better touch with different people and in different circumstances.
  • You can deploy dialog for shared leadership, to better handle complex issues.
  • You understand how to lay the groundwork for dialog between hierarchical layers as well.
  • You’ve gained new insights to deal with cases from your actual work.
  • You learn to foster balance between thoughts, feelings and actions.

Contents of the Shared Leadership Master Class

People often have one, or perhaps two perspectives on a task. This makes it difficult to make a decision based on multiple perspectives on your own. You need other people for that. The Shared Leadership Master Class focuses on dialog with yourself, with your team, and at the organizational level. You learn how to be as open as possible to different perspectives. With Dialogical Leadership, you and your colleagues take on and resolve the complex issues under your responsibility. With shared ownership. At the end of the day, you enjoy better decision-making and faster execution. The master class is highly interactive: you present your own situation and work on further developing your leadership skills.

Day 1: Dialog with yourself

Learn all about your position repertoire and how you can deploy it in your leadership and in the dialog.

Day 2: Dialog with your team

Deploy dialog to enhance strategic capacity, professional space, connection, security and collaboration in your team. How? You learn that during day 2.

Day 3: Dialog in your organization

It is vital to expand dialog within the organization. Discover how to do this and reflect on your own role in the organization and the team.
