30 recommendations for good educational management

Administrators and supervisory officials should take into account the risks involved in the position of one-headed administrators. They should also try to diminish the distance between administrators and students and parents by involving them (in)formally in the education management. The diversity in the background of the administrators should be broadened. And serious efforts should be made of professionalizing the management and internal regulation.

This is a random selection of the 30 recommendations of the Committee Good Educational management Secondary Education, of which TIAS Professor Edith Hooge is part. The committee puts these recommendations forward on 18 September in order to strengthen the actual practice of adequate management and the administrative powers in the SE-sector. The committee also puts forward proposals to improve and update the current governance code.
