Prof. Dr. Mijntje Lückerath is a professor of Corporate Governance at TIAS Tilburg University. Her research focuses on the role of the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board and corporate governance, particularly concerning long-term value creation and boardroom dynamics (including our biases, independence, evaluation, transparency, and diversity). She is the author of the annual Dutch 'Female Board Index' and co-author of the annual National Directors Survey. Mijntje Lückerath is the (chief) editor of the Yearbook Corporate Governance (Kluwer). Additionally, she is an experienced board member and has been/was a member of the Supervisory Boards of Achmea, NRC Media, Erasmus MC, Pels Rijcken, Diergaarde Blijdorp, KNGF Guide Dogs, and the ASN Investment Institutions. Finally, in April 2024, Mijntje was appointed as a crown member of the Social and Economic Council (SER).
In 1994, Mijntje Lückerath obtained her Master's degree in Financial Business Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She then held various financial positions at Rabobank International until 2001, most recently as Vice-President Project Finance. Between 2001 and 2012, Mijntje worked at Erasmus University as an Associate Professor of Financial Markets & Supervision. From 2010 to 2013, she served as a professor of Corporate Governance at Nyenrode Business University. Her dissertation focused on the usefulness for decision-making of (operational) leases.
Due to her interest in boardroom dynamics and behavior and culture in Corporate Governance, she began studying Psychology at the Open University in 2019. In 2022, she obtained her Master's degree in Work and Organizational Psychology with a research focus on moral judgment formation among board members. This led to her book Moral Dilemmas in the Boardroom, which was nominated for Management Book of the Year (1 of 5 nominations) in 2023.
