The government is undermining the confidence of citizens

Citizens regularly get the door slammed in their faces because politicians and administrators place political interests before the interests of citizens. "'Polycentric' administrative systems have emerged which give free rein to forces without a democratic mandate, and this may negatively impact public accountability," Professor Edith Hooge writes in this column.
