Freek Lapré wins prize for his research
During a conference, organized by the International Federation on Aging (IFA) in Istanbul (Turkey) on 5 October, Freek Lapré received an award for the conference's best paper.
The paper was selected from hundreds of submissions from all over the world and was judged by an international panel of scientists and policymakers. The paper's theme was his study into the quality of services in nursing homes. Lapré received a cash prize that he may use to conduct new research.
Lapré conducted a study into the quality of services in seven nursing homes. He demonstrated that nursing home residents and their families considered completely different issues to be important and decisive for quality than those currently measured by all kinds of certification systems. "The study reveals that interactional aspects are decisive for experiences related to quality and customer satisfaction. Therefore care does not need to cost more to offer a better quality", says Lapré.
Since 2013, Lapré has been Academic Director of the Executive Master in Health Administration (MHA) at TIAS School for Business and Society. He is also a partner of Movinex BV, a consultancy that focuses on strategy, innovation and organizational development and is a member of the Board of Directors of the European Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (EAHSA) in Brussels.
