40 Executive MBA participants (entrepreneurs and program executives from mainland China) will be visiting the Tilburg University campus in the week of 31 August – 4 September 2015. The main purpose of the visit is to learn first-hand about European business culture and to foster links between Chinese and Dutch businesses.

This visit is part of the long lasting academic partnership Tilburg University has with the College of Business, City University of Hong Kong. The City University of Hong Kong is ranked among Asia’s top 10 universities in the 2015 Asian University Rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and ranked 4th among the local tertiary institutions.

Tilburg University is responsible for the content of the academic programme. TIAS School for Business and Society is coordinating the cultural program with visits to companies in the Netherlands, such as KPMG, Port of Rotterdam, TomTom, VitalHealth and SAP.

Besides getting more insights into Dutch (and European) business culture in an international context, the participants will also learn about the Dutch art, history and cultural heritage by visiting key touristic attractions, such as the Van Gogh Museum and the Port of Rotterdam.

The week-long study visit will be the start of a yearly cycle of field trips for City University Executive MBA programme, and Tilburg University is honoured to be the European destination for one of its field trips this year. Prof. Choon Ling SIA and Prof. Stephen LIAO from City University explain: “We have decided to join forces with Tilburg University and TIAS for this Global Field Study, because we have had fruitful collaboration with several professors from Tilburg School of Economics and Management for many years now, giving us confidence that we would be able to give the participantsan insightful and immersive experience of European business philosophy and practices.”

The emergence of Chinese trade and business is actually a key development in our global world. With increasing internationalization of businesses, particularly in a Sino-European context, a deep appreciation of and mutual understanding of business practices is an imperative. The Global Field Study provides an ideal platform to forge future partnerships between European and Chinese business leaders.
