Heleen Steneker wins a Master of € 35,000
July 16, 2014
Heleen Steneker is the winner of the TIAS Never Stop Asking Challenge. She wins a TIAS master to the value of € 35,000. Steneker wins the challenge with the question 'What if changes are going so fast we do not see the change anymore.’
Steneker based the question on the fact that changes are sometimes happening so fast that employees no longer keep up with the change. The winner works as a change manager at the municipality of Venlo. TIAS dean and director Kees Koedijk thinks that the winning question is a current question. “Yesterday, the TV program Nieuwsuur showed an item about the app Uber that changes the taxi industry. Taxi drivers don’t know how to handle this change.”
Important to keep connecting
"It is unreal to win," said Steneker after she received the cheque of dean and director Kees Koedijk. "When tell people about it, I start smiling." The change manager wants to develop her career and maybe even manage an organization. "I started in HR and therefore have an certain vision of how I would like to manage an organization. I understand that small manageable projects are necessary to change an organization, but is important to keep connecting these projects. As a manager at a higher level you have the influence to also connect the projects.”
Steneker thinks of starting with the Executive Master of Management and Organization. An interview with the Program Adviser of TIAS will provide more clarity about the content of the various programs of the business school. If she can decide quickly, she can start by September with the Master of her choice.
