Theo-Jan Renkema was trained as a Business Economist and Information Scientist in Groningen (1992, cum laude) and obtained his PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management at Eindhoven University of Technology (1996). In recent years, after previous research and consulting positions, he has worked at Rabobank in various positions with a focus on strategic deployment of IT and accelerating digital transformation. He is currently a member of the Audit Directorate and, as Chief Auditor, responsible for Innovation & Technology assurance and advice. He also leads the innovation of the audit function to a data-driven department. In addition, Theo-Jan is Professor of Practice 'Data Analytics & Auditing' at Tilburg University (department of Accountancy) and the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) in 's-Hertogenbosch. The aim is to strengthen audit research and education with data science and artificial intelligence.
