Nicole van Eldik is a pediatrician and Program Manager of Digital Care at MUMC+. In this role, she is responsible for the digital care strategy at MUMC+, working closely with the departments of quality, innovation, and research, as well as the IT department. She previously chaired the Innovation Expert Group of the Dutch Association of Pediatrics and participates in various national working groups focused on digital and data-driven healthcare, both within and beyond pediatrics. At MUMC+, she is the founder of the "wash street" concept. Through this, she and her team mapped out the expertise within the hospital involved in the innovation and implementation of digital care. In a single afternoon, the owner of an innovation idea passes through all the required areas of expertise, gaining insight into what is needed for innovation and implementation, thereby speeding up the process within the hospital. She was a steering committee member of the Citrien-2 eHealth program. Since September 2024, she has been the program leader of the Citrien-3 program "Digital Inclusion in Healthcare." This program, initiated by NFU and Zon-MW, focuses on reducing health disparities caused by the use of digital healthcare. It works on redesigning digital care processes in collaboration with users, prescribers, and developers, with the goal of making digital care more inclusive and suitable for everyone.
Nicole studied health sciences and medicine at Maastricht University. As a pediatrician, she works as a general pediatrician but completed her fellowship in social pediatrics, where she gained experience in child and adolescent psychiatry (Mutsaersstichting, Youz), pediatric rehabilitation (Adelante), and in a sleep center (Kempenhaeghe). Nicole is particularly interested in applying the biopsychosocial model in medicine, and thus also in its application within digital healthcare. She is working on a participatory care model.
