Kris Lieckens holds a PhD. in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp, followed by post-doctoral activities in the Research Center for Operations Management at KU Leuven.
His work and publications in international journals are primarily focused on the application of operational research techniques to topics like advanced resource planning, supply chain network design, reverse logistics, maintenance services, and applications in large-scale manufacturing and servicing systems.
From 2001, he also serves as a consultant for global companies, leading to a profound knowledge of planning systems and optimization routines. He was the co-developer of FlowBalancer, an analytical and stochastic tool for S&OP decisions.
Since 2016, he has been working for The Grain, a data science company focused on building AI applications for the industry in order to make management decisions and day-to-day tasks easier for planners, operators and engineers in the area of supply chain, manufacturing, and maintenance & reliability.
Teaching courses at UA, AMS and IESEG are all related to topics in supply chain and operations management, managing resources, and managerial decision making with operations research models. As a board member of PICS Belgium, he teaches APICS certification courses (CSCP, CPIM and CLTD) and supply chain flows for the hands-on course.
