Professor Jo M.L. van Engelen, MSc, PhD (1959) studied physics and mathematics at the University of Technology in Eindhoven and Business Administration at the University of Twente.
He received his PhD in 1989 from the University of Twente. In 1991 he was appointed chaired professor of Business Development and (few years later) research fellow at the Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Groningen. As of 2010 he was appointed chaired professor of Integrated Sustainable Solutions at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering of the Delft University of Technology.
He was author or co-author of ten books and more than 100 scientific papers. In his societal career he served on two executive boards, Tourist Club ANWB in the Hague and the world largest pension provider APG in Amsterdam. Furthermore, over the years he served on 20 supervisory boards, ranging from listed companies to social organisations and from high tech industries to financial industry companies.
