Introduction

Artificial intelligence is developing at lightning speed and expectations are high. At the same time, it turns out to be difficult in practice to separate hype from applications that truly create value. In the master module Realism in AI, you develop a grounded, strategic view of AI: what it can actually do today, where the limits lie, and how to translate that into choices for your organization.

You explore the impact of AI on decision-making, business models, and operations, with cases from various sectors. Instructors combine insights from research, entrepreneurship, and implementation, so you see how successful AI applications are actually built. You conclude the module with a concrete action plan for your organization, enabling you to use AI as a realistic lever for innovation, efficiency, and sustainable competitive advantage.

Participant profile

For professionals making strategic decisions about data, digitalization, and AI, seeking realistic guidance in the process.

You work in an organization where there is significant pressure to “do something with AI” – from management, customers, suppliers, or public opinion. You see experiments, pilots, and proposals come by, but you also notice how difficult it is to separate hype from applications that demonstrably create value. Issues around cost-benefit, risks, ethics, and organizational setup play a prominent role in this.

You want a sober and solid framework to determine where AI is truly useful in your context, how to assess its impact on decision-making, processes, and the business model, and how to make well-founded choices in investment and implementation. At the same time, you are looking for language and structure to conduct sharper conversations with management, colleagues, and suppliers, and to embed AI into existing strategy and change cycles.

About this program

From AI hype to strategic value creation

In the Realism in AI Master Module, you will delve into how artificial intelligence influences decision-making, processes, and business models. You will investigate where AI demonstrably adds value today – and where promises are based primarily on hype and marketing. You will look at concrete applications in analysis, prediction, automation, and decision support, and examine how these work out for customers, employees, risks, and results. In this way, you will develop a realistic picture of what AI can do, what it costs, and what preconditions are involved.

This module brings together strategy, data, technology, and organizational development. You will learn to analyze AI initiatives in terms of value, feasibility, and risks, recognize tensions between speed, quality, privacy, ethics, and costs, and design alternatives that fit your organization's strategy and maturity. Using robust frameworks and practical cases, you will work on issues from your own practice, so that you approach AI not as a separate experiment, but as a strategic tool for innovation, efficiency, and sustainable value creation and become a strong discussion partner for the board, management, and suppliers.
