Introduction
It's the story of virtually every manager or supervisor: you are trained in a profession, grow in your career as a specialist, until you reach a point where you can no longer grow in terms of content. At that point, you are promoted to supervisor. And then suddenly you have to do something you weren't trained to do: manage people. But how do you do that, manage?
You may discover that your experience as a project manager, where you mainly focus on content, is different from managing a team or department. Team management involves much more, and soft skills play a greater role, such as motivating employees, dealing with conflicts, and creating a positive working environment. This program offers you the guidance and tools you need as a first-time leader. We help you discover and further develop your leadership potential so that you can excel in your new role with confidence.
Participant profile
Participants in this program have 0 to 5 years of management experience and come from various sectors, including the for-profit, non-profit, and public sectors. They include both senior professionals with extensive work experience and young talents in their first leadership role.

You are familiar with strategies for motivating employees and can apply them in practice.
About this program
The program consists of four two-day modules, giving you time and space to put what you have learned into practice after each two-day session. In addition to theory, the modules make extensive use of practical exercises to practice your newly acquired skills. In addition, at the start of the first module, we create a buddy system so that you have a sparring partner for any issues you encounter in practice. At the start of each new block, there is time to reflect with the other participants on what you learned during the previous block and how you applied it in your work environment.
Module 1 - You as a leader
You'll explore the foundations of your leadership by reflecting on your background, behavioral patterns, and unique style, and learn how to use these effectively in different situations. You'll also develop conflict management and personal leadership skills, enabling you to steer towards constructive solutions with self-awareness, flexibility, and effective interventions.
Module 2 - You and others
You'll discover how to get the best out of employees by encouraging their development and creating an open, constructive communication culture, even during difficult conversations. You'll also refine your negotiation and influencing skills, enabling you to collaborate and intervene effectively in challenging situations with persuasion, diplomacy, and practical insights.
Module 3 - You and your team
You'll learn how to build and lead a close-knit, resilient, and cohesive team, even in times of change. You'll also discover how to create a culture of continuous learning, psychological safety, and mutual support, enabling your team to grow, experiment, and perform sustainably.
Module 4 - You and the organization
You'll explore how strategy is formed and implemented within the organization, and how your role contributes to this. You'll also gain insight into collaboration between managers and the influence of informal political forces, enabling you to navigate effectively and increase your own impact.
In addition, there will be two online peer review sessions after completion of the four modules, supervised by a management coach in small groups (four to five people). After this, you and this group of participants will be able to continue these peer reviews on your own initiative. In this way, we ensure that your learning ability is optimally utilized and that the growth you experience will be well-founded.
