Premaster

The TIAS Premaster consists of four modules that prepare you thoroughly for a successful start to your master’s program. You will not only learn to critically analyze and interpret academic theories but also to design and conduct independent research that meets scientific standards. In addition, you will build a solid foundation in financial and strategic knowledge. This helps you understand how organizations function, where value is created, and how you can make a difference with your own expertise.

By the end of the program, you’ll be fully prepared to apply the (scientific) theories and models from your master’s studies directly to your professional work.

Modules

Academic Reading and Writing
You will learn how to find, assess, and apply academic literature. You will also strengthen your academic writing skills by structuring and composing well-founded texts in the form of a literature review.

Quantitative Methods
You will learn to apply statistical concepts and analyze quantitative data—essential skills for conducting academic research.

Qualitative Methods
You will be introduced to qualitative research methods and learn how to design and prepare a qualitative study to collect and analyze qualitative data effectively.

Accounting & Finance
You will develop a solid academic and analytical foundation in accounting (external reporting) and finance (corporate finance). This module is offered fully online and can be completed at your own pace.

Dutch and English Premaster

We offer the Premaster in both Dutch and English. Both programs cover the same four modules. Besides the language, the main difference lies in the format: the Dutch Premaster follows a blended setup, while the English Premaster is delivered fully online.

Dutch Premaster – Blended Format

The modules Academic Reading and Writing, Quantitative Methods and Qualitative Methods are offered in a blended format, combining online and on-campus learning. Online kick-offs, check-ins and in-person sessions alternate with online self-study, preparing you to complete each module with an exam or paper.

The Accounting & Finance module is fully online in both versions of the Premaster.

English Premaster – Fully Online Format

Once your enrolment is confirmed, you gain direct access to the online learning environment. From that moment, you take charge of your learning journey. With your Executive Master start date in mind, you decide when to begin each module, how many modules to follow simultaneously, and at what pace to complete them.

Which Premaster suits you best

If you plan to pursue a Dutch-taught master’s program, you will generally follow the Dutch Premaster. If you are enrolling in an English-taught master’s program, the English Premaster is mandatory. You can find more information about this here.

Time investment and result

The TIAS Premaster consists of four modules. Each module takes up to 9 weeks to complete and requires an average study load of 8 to 16 hours per week, depending on your prior knowledge and experience.

Certification per Module
Upon successful completion of a module, you will receive a certificate. Once you have completed all four modules, you will gain access to an Executive Master’s program of your choice at TIAS.

Flexible Overall Duration
You can complete the program in 3 to 12 months — at a pace that fits your goals and schedule.  Choose an accelerated track by stacking modules into a 3-month format, or spread them out to reduce your weekly study load.
