Why this program

Boardroom culture and the behavior of non-executive director and supervisors can have a major impact on organizations as a whole. An innovative corporate culture starts in the boardroom. In addition, society has become more critical: companies and organizations are expected to take responsibility, also from a social point of view.

What will the program bring you?

Enrich your knowledge with the most recent academic insights and their practical application.

Increase your impact in the boardroom through more regulatory knowledge and effective supervisory behavior.

Increase board effectiveness through a better understanding of boardroom dynamics.

Improve your ability to look beyond the interests of shareholders and other primary stakeholders.

About this program

The modules are structured around four themes, with an overall focus on boardroom dynamics. The effectiveness of boards depends to a large extent on boardroom dynamics, which is why this specific topic is covered in every module. You will learn to understand, recognize and improve boardroom dynamics.

Key basic knowledge is provided in advance through e-learnings and articles, so that there is enough time in the master classes for interaction and in-depth analysis and discussions. The program is structured as follows:

Module 1: Introduction

You will explore long-term value creation and the building blocks of high-performing boards, learn to apply the theory and practice of boardroom dynamics, and explore how innovation and new business models are driven in the boardroom.

Module 2: Boardroom dynamics and leadership

You will delve into boardroom dynamics, recognize effective and ineffective interactions between directors and supervisory board members, and gain leadership and practical tools to make an immediate impact.

Module 3: Hard controls: legal and financial

You will gain a firm grasp of the legal aspects of corporate governance, relevant laws and regulations, and possible consequences, and learn how to effectively manage the role and focus areas of the audit committee.

Module 4: Employer role: remuneration, appointment, and assessment

You will gain a thorough understanding of the theory, legislation, and practice surrounding top remuneration, learn how to design appointment and evaluation processes with the right selection criteria, and apply powerful dialogue and questioning techniques in your own context.

Peer learning sessions

In between the modules of the CTP program, peer learning sessions take place in small groups (maximum seven participants). In each session, one participant brings in a case: an urgent dilemma that he or she is currently dealing with in the supervisory role. As a group, we delve into this issue, sharing reflections, associations and ideas, and together formulate advice on the first step to take. This offers valuable insights not only for the person who brought up the case, but also for the other participants, who experience how theory is applied in practice and how each case is layered within the dynamics of the boardroom.

You will follow the three peer learning sessions with the same group. This offers the opportunity to draw on insights from previous case studies and, at the same time, build a strong network within the group.

Certificate

Upon successful completion of the Non-executive Directors and Supervisors Program, you will receive a certificate of participation from TIAS School for Business and Society.
