Business Economics

This module provides an introduction to microeconomics. Microeconomics is about how economic agents, such as consumers, employees, managers, companies, and government institutions, make decisions. Understanding how these economic agents make decisions is the basis for understanding how the economy works. The aim of this module is to give participants the tools and skills to recognize economic trade-offs and analyze the decisions of economic agents. Using game theory, we analyze situations involving strategic interaction, where the outcome depends on the decisions of multiple economic agents. This is important in certain markets, but also within companies, for example in teamwork or negotiations. In addition, we study different market forms (perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly) and examine when markets do not lead to socially desirable outcomes.

Start: 21 jan. 2027

Marketing Management

Companies are constantly thinking about creating value through (new) products and services. When a phone, laptop, or copier is sold on the market, companies start thinking about, or even already developing, the next version. A key question is: how can a company increase the chances of a product's success? The Marketing Management module provides the answer; it teaches you the basics of Marketing Management. Marketing is often considered to be ‘selling products’. However, this module offers a more contemporary, broader view in which identifying customer needs is central. Marketing can therefore be defined as ‘the activity and processes of creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging products and services that have value for customers, partners, and society as a whole’. The Marketing Management module provides you with an overview of the most important theories, models, and concepts in the marketing of new products. It uses a mix of lectures, team assignments, and interactive discussions to apply theory to real-life (business) situations.

Start: 4 mrt. 2027

Innovation Management

Despite the fact that innovation is an important activity for many organizations, it is not always an easy process, and many ideas, concepts, and innovation projects do not reach the finish line or achieve the intended success in the market. This module covers various core concepts related to innovation, with the aim of enabling students to analyze, structure, and improve innovation processes, in addition to gaining knowledge of the core concepts.

Start: 17 jun. 2027

Strategisch Management

Strategic decisions can make or break an organization. It is therefore a core discipline of management, both in practice and in science. In this module, we will discuss the most important concepts, models, and techniques of strategic management. We will not only focus on strategy design, but also on its implementation within an organization.

Start: 19 aug. 2027

Business Research Methods

To make sound management decisions, managers depend on the quality of the information they receive. This information is often based on research, such as research that maps consumer needs or employee behavior, identifies market opportunities, or studies the causes of success and failure. Conducting and using business research requires knowledge of research methodology. The Business Research Methods module shows you which research strategies, methods, and techniques are appropriate for specific research projects. You will also learn how to elaborate your research choices in a written research proposal. Together with your study group, you will develop a research proposal during the module, which you will present at the end of the module. After the module, you will work individually on your own research proposal, which will be the starting point for your final thesis process.
