There is a shortage of staff, money, medical supplies, medicines, and climate control. As a manager, how do you deal with these pressing issues while ensuring that quality requirements are met, growth is achieved, and finances remain in order?
In the Advanced Program Current Developments in Healthcare, you will learn how to deal with multidimensional complex problems such as those that arise in healthcare. By comparing the issues you are struggling with to the analysis of current developments in healthcare, new future-proof solutions come into view. Solutions that contribute to better patient care, lower costs, a healthier society, and higher employee satisfaction.
In practice, participation in this program means that you will complete one of the four modules of the TIAS Executive Master of Health Administration program in its entirety. You will learn and discuss at the master's level and work together with experienced managers, executives, and professionals from the healthcare sector who are enrolled in the full master's program.

About this program
Program content
An optimal healthcare organization can only be achieved through a transcendent vision and a deep understanding of developments in healthcare and (shifting) paradigms. In this advanced program, you will delve into fundamental concepts such as health and well-being and become acquainted with different perspectives on healthcare. You will learn to analyze complex issues within the healthcare sector and develop strategies to deal with them. You will then apply your knowledge of basic concepts and national and international healthcare systems to specific themes, such as elderly care, integrated care, and value-driven care. This overarching insight will help you formulate future-proof solutions.
Program structure
The program has a blended structure, with both online and offline components. The online part consists partly of classroom sessions and partly of independent components that can be followed at a time of your choosing. The offline part comprises three two-day interactive lecture blocks at TIAS in Utrecht.
This structure creates an optimal learning environment and promotes high learning efficiency. From the joint online kick-off, each participant receives the necessary tools to engage in high-level discussions with each other during the lectures. This leads to valuable insights that help to deal strategically with the current complexity and dynamics.
Time investment and certificate
The program duration is five months: three two-day lecture blocks on location and two months of preparation for assessment. The study load is 12-15 hours per week. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate of participation that can ultimately count toward an Executive Master of Health Administration degree, provided you complete all four standalone advanced programs based on the modules of this master's program and complete your graduation assignment.
