Smart learning methods for meaningful impact

At TIAS, every program is designed to create the greatest possible learning impact and to make that impact visible in your daily work. Our teaching philosophy combines academic excellence with practical applicability.

The way we teach makes all the difference. For each program, we select the learning methods that best activate insight and action, tailored to the goals, context and dynamics of each group.

Discover the learning methods we use most often:

  • Simulations & Games

You step into realistic scenarios where you make decisions as a leader under time pressure. Midway through, the situation can shift due to new information, external factors or a change of role. You learn to adapt quickly, reassess priorities and stay on course in complex situations.

🏆 What it develops: agility, decisiveness and systems thinking under pressure.

  • Case Studies & Organisational Challenges

We work with real and current cases, often contributed by participating organisations or our alumni network. You analyse situations, design strategies and test them directly with your peers. Participants who wish to do so can bring in their own organisational challenge for immediate application.

🏆 What it develops: strategic insight, real-world benchmarking and solutions you can apply tomorrow.

  • Dialogue & Debate

In a safe and open environment, we create productive friction where assumptions are challenged and alternatives explored. The diversity within the group enriches the learning process and sharpens your thinking.

🏆 What it develops: sound judgement, persuasive communication and the ability to navigate complex discussions with agility.

  • Feedback and Peer Reflection Sessions

Realistic role plays with fellow participants or professional actors make behaviour and its impact immediately visible. Feedback from peers, faculty and coaches accelerates your learning curve. Peer reflection sessions provide a structured way to help one another address real-world professional challenges.

🏆 What it develops: a refined communication style, a broader behavioural repertoire and a stronger transfer of learning to your work.

  • Company Visits & Guest Speakers

From behind-the-scenes insights at organisations in transition to guest lectures from leading executives, this is where theory comes to life and valuable connections are built.

🏆 What it develops: context, network and inspiration you can apply right away.

  • International Study Trips

You step outside your own context, visit leading organisations in different markets and, through guided debrief sessions, translate those insights directly into your own professional practice.

🏆 What it develops: a broader strategic perspective, international benchmarking, cultural agility and actionable insights you can apply immediately.

Examples from practice

Executive MBA — Consulting assignment during study trip to Rwanda

During the study trip to Rwanda you and your peers act as consultants for a local company. Based on the organization’s input and your MBA knowledge, you formulate practical strategic recommendations. You not only apply expertise in a completely different context, you also discover that you and your team learn as much from the client as the other way around.

Strategic Leadership — Crisis meeting simulation

In a realistic simulation you sit at the executive table of an international company facing a sudden reputation crisis. You decide quickly with incomplete information, weigh interests, and maintain stakeholder trust. Afterwards you reflect with peers and faculty on your choices and their effects.

Masterclass in Personal Leadership — Realistic practice with actors

In this masterclass you speak with experienced leaders from business and the public sector who have led major transformations. You then practice in lifelike role-plays with professional actors. You safely try out difficult conversations and complex leadership situations, receive direct feedback, and sharpen your communication style.
