Introduction

Contract knowledge is crucial when managing complex projects in the construction, engineering and offshore industry. A basic understanding of construction law, contract law, risk management and interdependencies among stakeholders is key when it comes to creating commercial success.

Project managers are confronted with complex legal, commercial and cultural differences among contract parties on a daily basis. To execute an engineering project successfully, a multidisciplinary set of skills and knowledge is required. The program Contracting Engineering Projects will help you develop an understanding of contracting risks and success factors, participate as a partner in contracting discussions and negotiations and manage contracts effectively.

Participant profile

Contracting Engineering Projects is aimed at professionals with 5 - 10 years of experience. Contracting Engineering Projects is interesting and relevant for companies involved in the development and implementation of construction projects (onshore and offshore). It is suitable for engineering firms, contractors/suppliers, and clients. Legal contract issues are discussed based on commonly used model contracts, such as FIDIC contracts. Why this program

This Program was initially established by TIAS School for Business & Society and a consortium of Ballast Nedam, Boskalis and the Heerema Fabrication Group in order to address the growing international competition and collaboration. They felt the need to prepare their employees for dealing with the resulting contract complexities.

Participants will take part in a blended program set up. This program format makes Contracting Engineering Projects attractive and relevant for maritime companies as well as for land based constructing companies. Also, the new program is suited for contractors / suppliers as well as for clients. Finally, its modular design allows for easy configuration of an InCompany delivery.
