What if the inspection closes down the operation rooms?

External monitoring in terms of quality is needed in the quest to provide high quality hospital care. This involves an important role for the Healthcare Inspectorate. (IGZ). Some time ago, the IGZ conducted a two-day unannounced visit to a hospital, to examine the quality of care at the OK complex. There appeared to be different ideas about quality standards.

It seemed that from the outside world the IGZ is not decisive for quality. After all everyone involved argues from their own field and corresponding sets of values. Links with other fields and thus sets of values, were not achieved. The discussion about what constitutes good quality, as that of the effectiveness of external monitoring, also depends on the inclusion of four different fields, the market, the government, the community and the medical profession.
