About this TIAS Elevate Session
"People are feeling excluded." That’s often as far as we get. We observe that people are disengaged, they report feeling isolated and excluded. We observe microaggressions in the workplace and this translates into attrition, diminished innovation and lack of collaboration. We want to turn the tide on exclusion and foster an environment of inclusion. Yet, we are not able to identify the steps to get there.
In this session,
dr. Hans van Dijk enables participants to experience what kind of behaviors result in experiences of exclusion through an interactive simulation. Under Hans’ guidance, participants will reflect on their experiences and translate it to the ways in which dynamics in their workplace result in experiences of exclusion.
Once we identify the dynamics of exclusion, we examine the flip side of exclusion, namely inclusion. What do we mean by inclusion, how do we measure it and what prerequisites need to be in place to support an inclusive work environment.
In the second part of this session,
Kay Formanek evaluates the importance of inclusive leaders, their practices and the critical role of allyship in creating a fairer work environment where there is unbiased access to opportunities and participation. Participants will have the opportunity of evaluating themselves on the Allyship Continuum and to identify their gap for their work context.
After these insights, we’ll dive into an interactive session where you can share experiences, apply the contents to your workplace, and learn from each other. We’ll conclude the evening with a light dinner and plenty of time for further discussion.
