In short

More about this TIAS Elevate Session

Many organizations use the North Korean model: The strategy is formulated by a small group within the organization and then presented to the wider organization, after which implementation can proceed. And just like in North Korea, implementation is often difficult – employees do not understand it, feel no ownership, and are hardly motivated to do their best, while the plans are often poorly executable and lacking in creativity. So, management resorts to targets as thumbscrews to force implementation.

In this TIAS Elevate Session, Ron Meyer and Mirea Raaijmakers will argue that strategic leaders approach mobilizing the organization differently. Strategic leaders do not make strategy, but ensure that strategy is made. They involve all important stakeholders in the organization and guide the creation process, so that everyone can contribute ideas and feel ownership. And because everyone understands the strategic choices, adjustments can be made with more agility when circumstances change.

In the first part, Ron Meyer will describe how strategic leaders involve people in the strategy process and which leadership qualities are required for this. In the second part, Mirea Raaijmakers shows how leaders translate external strategic challenges into internal meaning, behavior, and collaboration, so that strategy truly comes to life in culture and daily actions. After this, all attendees will get to work on the subject themselves in an interactive session. Everyone can then share their experiences and learn from one another.

We will end the evening with a light dinner and enough time to discuss the topic further.
