On May 12, 2026, Tilburg University will once again host Night University, our premier campus and science festival. Experience an evening filled with a diverse program of lectures, performances, workshops, quizzes, and tours.

Nightfall creates space for questions that go beyond the issues of the day. It is a time to reflect and discover. For questions you are less likely to ask at nine in the morning.

During science festival Night University, our campus opens its doors to the city, with experiments that come to life as soon as dusk sets it. A place to delve deeper into the themes that are relevant to our society and to embrace new perspectives.

Step into the night and discover the vibrant life on campus with pleasant meetings and surprising new insights presented by our scientists. Be amazed by inspiring talks, workshops, experiments, and performances. Discover Night University and experience how knowledge keeps you awake.

On behalf of TIAS, Sietske Rozie (Academic Director of the AI and Digital Transformation in Healthcare program) will take the stage. Her lecture, titled "When AI touches the human side of care," begins at 19:00 in the Cube building, Room 211.

In short

Night University is a free festival. All you need to do is register so we know how many guests to expect. During registration, you can also sign up for one of the tours included in the program. After completing the form, you will receive an e-ticket to be scanned at one of the registration points on campus. Registration is mandatory.

When AI Touches the Human Side of Healthcare

In this lecture, you will explore the intersection of AI, the brain, and medical decision-making. Drawing on her experience as a radiologist and AI expert, Sietske Rozie demonstrates how our thinking functions under pressure, dealing with cognitive limits, unconscious biases, and systematic errors.

Through interactive demonstrations, you will experience firsthand how quickly our brains recognize patterns and how easily they can be misled. You will discover why even experts make mistakes and how AI can serve as a co-pilot: supporting human judgment rather than replacing it.

The session goes beyond technology, touching on culture, trust, and change. How do we prepare healthcare professionals for a practice where AI has an increasing influence? And what does that mean for autonomy, responsibility, and the patient-professional relationship?

This lecture is for anyone who wants to understand where human intelligence ends and AI begins.

Sietske Rozie is a radiologist, AI expert, and a leading voice in digital innovation in healthcare. In her role as Academic Director of our AI and Digital Transformation in Healthcare program, she focuses on implementing responsible AI and strengthening the human perspective of healthcare professionals.
