Introduction
How do you ensure that sustainability becomes second nature in both the mindset and daily actions of healthcare professionals on the front lines? And more importantly, how do you embed it in the thinking and decision-making of those at higher organizational levels, all the way up to board members and supervisory bodies?
In the Sustainability in Healthcare Master Class, you will gain the knowledge, insights, tools, and frameworks needed to implement sustainability across all aspects of your organization, helping to ensure its long-term resilience.
Participant profile
The Sustainability in Healthcare Master Class is aimed at healthcare professionals working at all organizational levels within care and cure institutions, including hospitals, nursing and care homes, disability care facilities, home care organizations, mental health institutions, and rehabilitation centers. From board members, executives, and senior management to middle management and frontline staff.
By participating in this program, you take an important step toward embedding sustainability in your organization’s strategy. Joining with multiple colleagues amplifies this effect through synergy. After the master class, each of you can start applying the new knowledge, tools, and insights to your own role and position within the organization. This creates visible, inspiring impact more quickly, encouraging others to join in through a train-the-trainer approach.

Why this program
An increasing number of healthcare professionals who recognize the urgency of sustainability in their daily work are taking action to reduce their department’s or team’s environmental impact. But that alone is not enough. The next step is to address sustainability at the organizational level, in order to seize opportunities and avoid risks.
In this master class, you will take a deeper dive into your current organizational strategy in relation to ecological, social, and financial sustainability, a crucial condition for ensuring the long-term resilience of your healthcare organization.
What will the program bring you?
You understand the connection between ecological, social, and financial sustainability, and how these aspects of sustainability are interwoven within your own organization.
You receive innovative tools that help you more quickly and effectively map the dynamics between ecological, social, and financial sustainability, making it easier to determine the direction of transition.
You gain insight into the resources, time, personnel, and potential partnerships with other healthcare organizations needed to bring your plans to life.
You strengthen the future resilience of your own career; the progressive knowledge, skills, and tools you acquire make you a valuable sparring partner for executives and board members aiming to future-proof their organization.
About this program
This three-day master class focuses on ecological, social, and financial sustainability and their mutual interdependence. Using innovative and evidence-based tools, you will develop a strategic position for your organization within selected transition domains such as the circular economy, healthcare, energy, water, or mobility.
You will then formulate strategic goals for your chosen transition domains and begin shaping an initial implementation plan. The program follows a train-the-trainer approach, enabling you to easily share the tools, knowledge, and skills gained with colleagues in your organization.
Day 1
The program begins with an exploration of the strategic context of ecological sustainability. What are the interconnections between ecological health and healthcare? And how can you reduce your footprint while increasing your handprint within the framework of the circular economy?
Day 2
The second day is dedicated to social sustainability. In addition to an experience-based training on inclusion, you will work with three key themes and examine how they are currently addressed within your organization. These include workload, psychological safety, social boundaries in operations, and diversity.
Day 3
On the third and final day of the master class, the focus shifts to financial sustainability. The central question: what is needed to secure funding for your selected sustainability challenges and to ensure proper accountability during the implementation of solutions?
