Biography

Wouter Scheepens is one of the founding partners of Steward Redqueen, an international consultancy focused on sustainability and impact, driven by the mission “Making business work for society.” Since 2002, he has been active as an entrepreneur in this field, with a particular focus on strategy, implementation, governance, impact management, and stakeholder dialogue. He advises multinational companies, development banks, and non-profit organizations—both in the Netherlands and internationally—often at boardroom level.

Wouter also holds various supervisory roles. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Rotterdam Energy Transition Fund and serves as chair of the Supervisory Board of Social Enterprise NL. He has authored several publications, including Sustainability in the Boardroom (2017), Blood, Sweat, but Together (2022, co-authored with Harry Hummels and Erlijn Sie), and Time for Transition (2022), for which he served as editor-in-chief. The latter book contains 25 insights on Business & Society from TIAS colleagues.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Wouter worked for twelve years at ABN AMRO Bank in various roles. He started as an account manager and team lead in the business market segment, later became assistant to the CEO and deputy secretary to the Executive Board, and eventually served as Senior Vice President responsible for brand and reputation management.

Wouter holds a law degree from Tilburg University (1989) and completed postgraduate programs including a Master of Management and Organisation at TIAS Business School (1998), a Master in Corporate Communication at Erasmus University/RSM (2001), and the Non-Executive Director program at Erasmus University (2015).
