Business opportunities

The Internet of Things (IoT) is commonly understood as connecting devices, combining the physical and virtual world with sensors that are linked to the Internet. The IoT hype has widely been concentrated around the technology and devices (including sensors, smart phones, wearables, on-board machine sensors, home appliances, etc.). By implementing the technology and taking a higher vantage point, organizations can generate new business opportunities as more and new (disruptive) technologies and devices are emerging every day.

Upon completion of this program you:

  • will understand key drivers and potential of IoT for designing new business models
  • will understand what is needed technology-wise to implement IoT (vertical layers)
  • will be able to explore both technological and managerial opportunities, challenges and roadblocks to success
  • have learned key findings from practitioners
  • will be able to discuss innovative approaches to manage IoT technology and business challenges

The Masterclass Empowering Innovation through IoT, consisting of three modules of two days, will look at the field of IoT. However, focusing on the technology is not the main objective of this masterclass.  The primary goal is to demonstrate that there is so much more to gain from the technology itself.

While one module of this program covers IoT as a technological topic, most of the program pays  attention to the business models and opportunities that IoT can offer.

The program also suggests a mechanism to empower business transformation using IoT concepts. The program, therefore, aims to help managers and executives to develop a vision on how IoT can transform their respective business, while learning and understanding the technical elements.
