Van Montfort co-author of WRR report: From diptych to triangles
June 4, 2014
In a Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) report, Van Montfort and his co-author(s) conclude that third parties must function as an extra pair of eyes to reinforce the internal checks and balances at housing corporations, health care organizations and educational institutions. This was the conclusion of the WRR report entitled From diptych to triangles. Co-author of the report was Prof. Dr. Cor van Montfort, affiliated with TIAS and a temporary "guest of the council" at WRR.

In the report, WRR supplied various options and recommendations for the strengthening of internal checks and balances at housing corporations, health care organizations and educational institutions. In the current administration model of the semi-public institution, countervailing force must primarily come from supervisory boards, but these internal supervisors are not always sufficiently informed, in possession of adequate expertise and decisive enough to offer sufficient counterweight. The supervisory board can draw on the assistance of various third when monitoring the financial stability and social value of the organization.
Third parties can also scrutinize supervisory boards when performing the task of monitoring the organization's financial stability and social value. WRR discusses a number of options indicating how "third parties" can offer more effective response.
WRR has submitted the report to Minister of Housing and Public Service Stef Blok.
