Following a doctorate degree, Robert Bood holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Groningen. His dissertation, entitled ‘Images of Unfolding Diversification Projects’, studies the learning processes of companies and managers when starting up new activities. The nature and profoundness of such learning processes depend foremost on the willingness of managers to challenge their current way of thinking and embrace new logics.
Robert Bood has co-authored 'Communities of Practice: Sources of Inspiration' (2004; in Dutch) and 'Network learning: dealing with wicked problems' (2010; in Dutch). The former is a practical guide for professionals that want to improve and renew their practices together. The latter offers a unique learning approach to tackle truly tough problematical situations. His current research focuses on how companies deal with strategic risks and uncertainties. He explores and developes structured approaches to monitor, mitigate and, if possible, to take advantage of strategic risks and uncertainties.
